The Holidays Are Over--Back to Sea!

Hey, all you Fun-atics! I spent the holidays at home for only the second time in 10 years. So I was able to yet again trade a maritime Christmas for a merry one, and still a "maritime" was had by all.

Here's where the Coast Guard can find me in January:

CARNIVAL SENSATION: JAN. 6-10

CARNIVAL SENSATION: JAN. 11-14

CARNIVAL BREEZE: JAN. 18-20

CARNIVAL BREEZE: JAN. 21-23

More dates to come. (Which is more than I can say about my love life....)

Happy New Year and have fun, dudes!

Look out, Miami--here comes the Fun Dude!

Greetings, Fun-atics! Your Friendly Neighborhood Fun Dude is headed to the Carnival Splendor January 29th for six weeks as comedy club host in the Punchliner. Then I transfer to the Dream March 12th and until around August. This will be a tough contract because I'll be without the Fun Chick (she's living it up Down Under on the Legend!) and I'll be hosting activities around the ship during the day (gotta love them budget cuts!). But I've also gotten some good news I'll reveal at a later date, so I can definitely see the light at the end of the...ahem...funnel!

Have fun, dudes!

25th Anniversary of My "Comedy on the Road" Appearance

Hey there, all you FUN-atics! I'm excited to say that my cousin Sandy was recently digitizing some of her treasured VHS tapes when she stumbled across the last remaining copy of my second and last (and only actually aired) national TV show appearance from 1991. "Comedy on the Road" was an A & E comedy show hosted by John Binder and the booker was the manager of Drew Carey and Tim Allen, and both of them asked him to put me on the show.

Although it's embarrassing to see how incredibly bad I was back then, it makes me feel good to see how far I've come as a writer and performer in the past 25 years. What's wrong with this set? Well, for one every joke is a hack, made-up joke that had no basis in reality. Although the majority of the jokes are well written and performed, I had no point of view back then and absolutely no sense of who I was or where I was going. Great comedians possess and express themselves though a unique comedic voice. But back then I was doing jokes about "my brother Silas" who didn't exist.

Yikes!

But regardless, I remember Drew Carey driving me to the Dallas airport (we were working the Funny Bone in Arlington that week and that was the comedy condo where I fielded the phone call from NBC that landed him his first "Tonight Show"spot with Johnny Carson") to catch my flight to Detroit. I taped the show at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, MI, in November of 1991, and it aired on A & E in September of 1992.
